Admission Criteria and Application Process

Admission Criteria and Process

1) Admission is determined on the basis of academic record, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (verbal, quantitative and analytical) and personal statement. Research experience at the master's or undergraduate level and letters of recommendation are also highly considered.

2) Applicants are required to apply to at least one of the following graduate programs; Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics, Chemistry, or Medicinal Chemistry. If accepted into to program, the applicant will be automatically accepted into the chemistry, BMBB and medicinal chemistry graduate programs and will be allowed to pursue a PhD degree in the major of choice.

3) Applicants must complete the application form and provide the necessary documents by January 2.

Application Materials

Apply by January 2 for Admission and Financial Aid. Late applications will be considered as space permits. The application package should include the following materials:

1 Chemistry & Biology Graduate Training Program Application Form: (Downloadable MSWord doc)
2 A personal statement.
3 Three letters of recommendation are required by the program. Please submit names and email addresses of referees online, with the Graduate School online application form. Letters received through the online Graduate School system are sufficient; they will also be received by the Chemistry and Biology program.
4 A copy of your official college transcript(s).
5 GRE scores.
  For international applicants only, TOEFL scores.

An Admissions Committee reviews all applications during January-March. Top applicants are invited to visit us, meet with our faculty and students, and tour our facilities at our expense. We will encourage all interested students to visit us.
